Beat a 26-year Republican Incumbent, Despite a 13% Chance of Winning
GOP Congressman Steve Chabot served 26 years in Congress and was long viewed as unbeatable. Despite Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight model giving Landsman just a 13% chance of victory in late October, Democrat Greg Landsman succeeded where others had failed—driven by a disciplined media strategy that inoculated him against anticipated GOP attacks. Landsman was one of only two Democrats in the country to unseat a Republican incumbent in 2022.
